Shakira is among the latest celebrities who come forward to help the victims of Haiti earthquake.
Teaming up her children's charity Barefoot Foundation with Architecture for Humanity, the "Hips Don't Lie" hitmaker is planning to build a school for the children in the devastated country.
Letting out her plan through her official website, the "She Wolf" singer said, "There is a great need for immediate aid in Haiti, but also for longer-term reconstruction."
She added, "For that reason, we are doing our small part to help Haiti rebuild and give the children affected by this disaster the chance to learn and thrive."
The 32-year-old further shared her long-term goal with this project. She noted, "I hope.
We can use some of what we've learned working in Colombia to help Haiti's children recover.
When we educate children we empower societies, and right now Haiti needs all of our help."
The partnership of Barefoot Foundation and Architecture for Humanity will not only provide new school for the Haitian children. It will also provide education, school feeding, clean water and sanitation services.
Shakira has been known for her philanthropic work. She founded Fundacion Pies Descalzos, a Colombia-based Foundation which provides education, nutrition and psychological support to over six thousand Colombian children displaced by violence. Her Barefoot Haiti School will be modeled after the work of the foundation.
